ATTAPULGITE INFORMATION
Attapulgite is a naturally occurring, soft clay mineral known for its exceptional absorbent properties. Depending on the intended application, it can be sold in its raw, natural state or as a semi-calcined Low Volatile Matter (LVM) grade. This unique mineral is most commonly found in the Southeastern United States, where it is mined and processed for a variety of uses.
Due to its high absorption capacity and distinctive needle-like crystal structure, attapulgite is widely utilized in both industrial and medical applications. In the medical field, it has long been valued as an active ingredient in certain gastrointestinal treatments, where it helps absorb toxins and reduce irritation. Beyond medicine, it is also used in drilling muds, animal feed additives, absorbent products, and specialty industrial formulations.
With its versatility, abundance, and functional benefits, attapulgite remains an important mineral resource for multiple industries, from healthcare to manufacturing.
